Grant Program Overview

The Madison Christian Giving Fund exists to provide grants to organizations that work to both rectify social injustice and meet human needs, but also address the heart condition that is at the root of many of these needs by presenting the message of Jesus Christ.

Who is eligible to apply for a grant?

  • Grants can only be awarded to organizations that are a 501(c)3, tax-exempt entity, or to an organizations of team or people who have a fiscal sponsor/agent.

  • If you have any questions regarding eligibility please email us at scott.haumersen@cpa.com, we will be happy to discuss your situation.

Are there any other eligibility criteria?

  1. Your program must benefit people in Dane County

  2. Your program must have a visible, intentional gospel component.

  3. Must be consistent with the values of the National Christian Foundation (see pages 16-18 of NCF's Essential Guide for Giving Solutions)

What amount of money can I request?

  • Awards are unlikely to be greater than $10,000 and most are closer to $5,000 – so please make your request reasonable given those guidelines.

What criteria do you use in reviewing proposals?

  • Determining whether or not to fund a project or program is an art not a science. We are prayerful in our process and try hard to be consistent and transparent in our deliberations. The questions listed below show you some of what we take into consideration as we review grant applications. While this is not an exhaustive list please take these questions into consideration as you prepare your application.

    • Is this a project where a small amount of money might make a big impact?

    • Is this project seeking “seed money” to launch a new initiative?

    • Do the applicants have sufficient capacity to carry out their project?

    • Do the applicants have a plan for sustainability for their project?

    • Will a grant from MCGF increase their capacity to raise additional funds?

    • Is this project being done in partnership to increase reach and impact?

    • Does this organization have people of color in leadership positions, benefit people of color or the disadvantaged?

When is the grant due?

  • The application deadline is usually due the end of September. Stay tuned for details.

How do I get an application?

  • Applications are closed for 2024. Mark your calendars to check back in September 2024 for a 2025 application.
